Let's chat!
I am a HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist trained to doctorate level in clinical psychology which required developing competencies in a range of therapeutic approaches.
After qualification I completed further training in Neuropsychology and trauma and attachment based approaches. I have 15 years clinical experience working across inpatient, outpatient, acute hospital and community settings in the NHS and voluntary sector. I split my time between the NHS and private practice. In the NHS I currently work in neuropsychology rehabilitation, supporting people in the community adjusting to a range of neurological conditions. In my private practice I see people across the age span from childhood to older adults with a wide variety of presenting difficulties.
I am a fellow of the higher education authority and previously worked for 6 years’ as a lecturer with the Open University. I currently teach and provide supervision for Doctorate courses in Clinical Psychology. I’m experienced in providing organisational support and expert witness work.

A Clinical Psychologist is a mental health professional who has undertaken training to doctorate level and registered with the health care and professions council (HCPC).
Clinical Psychologists are trained to work with complex difficulties and in addition to clinical work are trained to do research, teaching, training and provide a range of other support services to other professionals.
You can find out if a psychologist is fully qualified and appropriately registered by searching the HCPC website: https://www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/
Although I draw on range of different approaches my style of working is predominately psychodynamic. This means that there is generally a focus on developing a detailed understanding of your emotional and relational patterns and how this links to early life experiences.
I work best with people where the focus is not purely on learning strategies or techniques but developing a deeper understanding of repeating patterns in your relationships, behaviour and feelings and obstacles that keep you from being able to apply the changes you want in your life.
£125 per 60 minute session or £180 per 90 minute session for self-funded therapy.
For organisational or insurance funded sessions, prices start from £130 per session.
I do not offer concessional rates/sliding scale. Instead I feel it is more equitable to reserve some of my slots for nhs funded therapy, local and national charities, social enterprises or organisations that I am affliated with for free or reduced rate work.
For therapy appointments I offer sessions face to face or online on Mondays from 2pm-7pm and Saturday from 9am-1pm. I also offer appointments on Wednesdays but this is only for online appointments.
I will respond to messages throughout the week and aim to reply no longer than 48 hours.
Yes, I have offered remote appointments to people living internationally but this would depend on being able to find a mutually compatible time that takes into account time zone differences. It may also depend on any restrictions within your country but please contact me to discuss this further.
Payment will need to be made by International bank Account Number (IBAN) transfer.
I work with children as well as some parent and baby work. Any appointments for children will usually need to be in my Saturday morning clinic if needing to fit around school hours.
My practice is based in Liverpool City Centre, please see the contact page for further information on my consulting room. I also offer remote consultations via zoom. Unfortunately my room does not have disabled access.
I do not currently offer home visits.
People come to therapy for as long as they wish to and are finding it beneficial. I do not impose a minimum or maximum number of sessions. It is generally best if an ending is agreed and worked towards rather than an abrupt finish but this is not compulsory. I see people on a weekly basis.
After I receive your initial enquiry, I will respond back with my current availability to see if it fits yours and confirm that you’re aware of my fee. We will then schedule a free 15 minute no obligation telephone call. This is simply to answer any questions you might have to help you decide if I might be a good fit for you and for me to explain further about how I work. After this, I will send a copy of my therapy agreement which I will ask you to read and return completed if you decide to book an initial assessment appointment with me.
The initial appointment will help us both to begin to understand whether I might be able to help you. After this appointment there will be regular weekly sessions for 50 minutes each unless otherwise negotiated. This will continue until you have reached your goals or decide that you no longer wish to continue.
